Five years after its release, BTS's "Dynamite" continues to break streaming records.
Today (September 4), the group's vibrant music video for the upbeat COVID-19 pandemic-era song "Dynamite" surpassed 2 billion views on YouTube, making it the first time a K-pop boy band has achieved this milestone.
The video garnered over 100 million streams from December until now. BTS's label, Big Hit Music, confirmed the news on social media earlier today.
Upon its release in 2020, NME's Rhian Daly described the record-breaking track as mining the bright, infectious sounds of disco to convey its joyful energy, serving as a form of escapism during tough times. The song features snapping handclaps that invite participation and hip-swaying rhythms perfect for the dance floor. As the song progresses, a guitar line reminiscent of Nile Rodgers' acclaimed work joins vibrant brass as Jin sings about "shining through the city with a little funk and soul," creating a euphoric escape from the world's darkness.

In early July, the K-pop superstars reunited for the first time since 2022, having completed their mandatory military service in South Korea. During a special livestream, the band confirmed rumors of new music in the works.
"We'll be releasing a new BTS album in the spring of next year. Starting in July, all seven of us will begin working closely together on new music. Since it will be a group album, it will reflect each member's thoughts and ideas. We're approaching the album with the same mindset we had when we first started," BTS stated.
"We're also planning a world tour alongside the new album," they added. "We'll be visiting fans all around the world, so we hope you're as excited as we are."
