'Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7'

Microsoft spent last week sharing “fake news” to tease the arrival of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 is due to launch at some point in 2025. The game follows on from last year’s Black Ops 6 and will serve as a direct sequel to 2012’s Black Ops 2.

A full reveal is due to take place at Gamescom tomorrow as part of the Opening Night Live showcase but ahead of that, Microsoft has been teasing Black Ops 7 with some sneaky fake news.

Last week, San Francisco fans noticed posters for a fake robotics company called The Guild had been put up to advertise a mysterious corporate website that promised a “future free from fear” and “tech you can trust”. Cover stories for The Guild then appeared in Forbes and Wired magazine while a menacing swarm of drones appeared around another The Guild billboard.

On Friday, a new trailer for Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 was revealed. The clip features Guild posters that say “We’re not owned by a tech billionaire, are you?” and footage of a Guild executive appearing at the New York Stock Exchange. “The tech companies you trusted betrayed you. Every screen, a global web of surveillance. So either we protect you, or no one does,” they said during their speech at the financial heart of the city. “Because by 2035, your enemies won’t be human and neither will your defenders. For too long on, power has been in the wrong hands. Now it’s in ours. Evolution waits for no one and together, we won’t fear tomorrow.”

“As we ramp up to the worldwide reveal of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7, we set out to create something as bold and thought-provoking as the game itself,” Activision chief marketing officer Tyler Bahl told Variety. “Set in 2035, it draws on themes of technology, robotics and the military-industrial complex, amplifying the tension and intrigue that define the Black Ops experience. We believe it will be one of our most impactful and talked-about campaigns yet.”

The mysterious Guild will be led by Kiernan Shipka’s Emma Kagan while Black Ops 7 will see players follow Black Ops 2 protagonist David Mason (Milo Ventimiglia) and his team of agents as they pursue “a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else”.

A full reveal of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 is due to take place tomorrow evening (August 19) as part of the Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase. However the release date and pre-order details for the game may have already been revealed.

In other news,  EA has confirmed the soundtrack for its upcoming Skate game will feature over 100 songs from artists such as Little Simz, Turnstile and Denzel Curry.
