Filipino Brainrot with UNIS' Gehlee: "Never Grow Old" Explained

Gehlee Dangca is the second Filipina member of the K-pop girl group UNIS. She has become a massive Pinoy brainrot icon with her local internet humor as what would the Filipino fans meme her as letting her "Pinoy humor" slip which result in various viral, unhinged, and highly relatable moments online.

The "Never Grow Old" is a widespread Pinoy brainrot meme. It started with the creator with the name "Never Grow Old" approaching pedestrians and testing them if they recognize his identity by asking "Pwede po magtanong?" (Can I ask a question?) followed by "Kilala niyo ba ako?" (Do you know me?). People who do not recognize them usually get ₱1,000, while those who recognize and follow them receive ₱2,000. These lines swiftly became a local trend, usually dismissing the follow-up question by giving the supposedly right answer first.

Outside Weverse, during a fan call interaction, Gehlee was asked the same thing and she cheerfully replied, "NEVER GROW OLD." Filipinos adore how even in a relatively formal K-Pop industry, Gehlee frequently breaks character to show how deeply embedded she is in local meme culture.
