In late March, ENHYPEN
’s label BELIFT LAB announced that main vocalist Heeseung would be leaving the group in order to pursue a solo career within the company. The announcement came as a shock to fans, sparking massive online discourse surrounding the sudden nature of his exit and the future of the now 6-member K-pop group. Today, it was announced that Heeseung would be debuting as a soloist under the new name ‘EVAN.’ An individual Instagram account was opened for him (@h_evva_n), including photos meant to demonstrate his new identity as a solo artist.
According to statements made by the company, the idol, who debuted as Hesseung in 2020, was departing from the group due to a “distinct musical vision.” They emphasized that it was a mutual decision based on what would be most “fulfilling” for his individual artistic goals in conjunction with the plans and goals of the remaining members.
The announcement of EVAN’s new stage name marks the beginning of his journey as a soloist in the K-pop scene. However, at this time, neither he nor the company have released any official news regarding when fans can expect his musical debut to take place.
