Gender-bender romance is back. tvN's upcoming drama Love in Disguise stars Yim Si Wan and Seol In Ah in the lead roles. The drama follows a third-generation chaebol heir suspected in a murder case, and a detective who goes undercover as a man to investigate him.
Directed by Park Dan Hee, the drama is based on the web novel ‘Why Don't You Know She's a Woman?’ and will premiere on October 19 at 8:50 p.m. KST, airing every Monday and Tuesday.
Fans are eagerly waiting for the show after Seol In Ah's look for the role was revealed. Many pointed out how handsome she looks in stylish suits and short hair. They praised the makers for making her disguise look realistic and stylish, rather than falling back on the comical, over-the-top cross-dressing tropes typical of the genre. The teaser released added to the buzz, with fans raving over Seol In Ah and Yim Si Wan's chemistry and her handsome, undercover look.
Meet the Chaebol Heir and Undercover Detective
The Squid Game actor plays Yoon Yi Jun, an arrogant third-gen chaebol who grew up with everything. A perfectionist who allows no mistake, the character is often described as an intolerable boss. At home, though, he transforms into a doting cat dad to his cat Jerry. A murder within his company puts him under suspicion, given that he's one of the leading candidates to become the next heir of Taegang Group.
In comes Seol In Ah as Kang Jae Hee, a professional detective who takes up the investigation. As a detective with a strong sense of justice, she often does whatever it takes to solve a case. Her military background and martial skills make her a formidable detective. To go undercover, she takes up the only position available, Yoon Yi Jun's personal secretary. The role is only open to men, so she disguises herself to infiltrate his household and investigate the case. Both actors' stills and teasers have already built plenty of chemistry and tension, leaving fans eager to see how their unlikely partnership plays out onscreen.
