JYPapi breaks the Internet

J.Y. Park recently released “WET,” his first summer single in six years, and the lyric line “Just call me JYPapi” is currently running wild across the internet.

The nickname “JYPapi” has been an inside joke of K-Pop fans for years. That nickname being officially in one of his songs shocked the fans and caused mixed online reactions from playful disbelief to reluctant admiration.

“WET” was also WATERBOMB SEOUL’s official 2026 theme song. Taking the KINTEX stage on July 26, the 54-year old JYP confidently body rolls through sweat, transforming his internet nickname into a full-scale crowd chant. As festivalgoers loudly responded with “JYPapi,” the comment section collectively questioned reality.

Some viewers joked that the lyrics left them “scarred,” while others admitted that the song was unexpectedly catchy. The now-infamous lyrics became the hook everyone remembered. The funniest part is netizens clearly arriving expecting to cringe but finds the song annoyingly catchy.
