One of the biggest moments yet could arrive this March. According to a letter circulating from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, KPop Demon Hunters is preparing a live performance of its breakout song “Golden” as part of this year’s Oscars celebration. The note suggests the show’s tight runtime will limit live performances to just two Best Original Song nominees — with Sinners“I Lied to You” also expected to be performed. If that happens, Sinners star Miles Caton would likely take the stage.

The Academy’s plan this year is to spotlight each nominated song with a custom package built from footage from its film, keeping the music tied closely to the story it was created for. The packages may also include behind-the-scenes details that highlight the songwriting process and creative intent.

Alongside “Golden” and “I Lied to You,” the other Best Original Song nominees include “Sweet Dreams of Joy” (Viva Verdi), “Train Dreams” (Train Dreams), and “Dear Me” (Diane Warren: Relentless). With the Oscars historically running long, it’s not surprising the ceremony would cap live performances — but it definitely raises the stakes for the two songs that make the cut.

The 2026 Academy Awards air on March 15, hosted by Conan O’Brien. Beyond Best Original Song, KPop Demon Hunters is also nominated for Best Animated Feature, meaning it could walk away with more than one trophy. And even if it doesn’t win, the franchise’s future looks packed: sequels, potential TV expansion, and more real-world moments fueled by how huge the film has become since its Netflix debut.
