Netflix have announced a KPop Demon Hunters world concert tour, with a waitlist for more details already available.
The animated production has become a global phenomenon, smashing records as it became Netflix’s most watched film ever following its release last year. The song ‘Golden’ from the movie has won two Oscars, a Grammy, and two Golden Globes, as well as topping the charts in more than 30 countries. The film recently launched a highly-anticipated collaboration with McDonalds, and now a live concert tour is on the horizon.
The tour was announced at the Netflix upfronts (an event to promote forthcoming programming to advertisers) in New York on Wednesday (May 13). Few details have been revealed about the tour, with a press release stating that it will be “a live experience that will bring elements of the two-time Oscar-winning film to life in spectacular ways.” Fans wanting to know more can sign up for the waitlist for information here, with the site promising those who sign up will be “the first to know when cities, dates, and tickets are announced later this year.”
“Obviously, nothing has captured the world, the world’s attention, quite like KPop Demon Hunters,” Netflix’s president of ad sales Amy Reinhard said at the presentation. “There were sing-a-longs, Halloween costumes, shoutouts at the U.S. Open and Buckingham Palace. There was even a 25 per cent spike in flights booked to Korea. And today, KPop Demon Hunters is still the most popular film on Netflix, and we’re really excited to announce that next year, in partnership with AEG Presents, we’re going to keep that momentum going with our very first world concert tour.”
“The live tour is going to bring fans even closer to the characters and the music that they love, and of course, we want you to be a part of that,” she continued. “We’ll have more information to share about the cities later this year, so stay tuned.”
Recently, the singing stars of KPop Demon Hunters gave a passionate speech about the pressures of being a woman in the music industry while accepting an award.
