Former NCT 127 Member WINWIN Stars in New Enemies-to-Lovers C-Drama

In July, Dong Sicheng, better known as WINWIN, officially departed SM Entertainment’s NCT × About group NCT NCT is a South Korean boy group formed by SM Entertainment with a unique multi-unit concept. There are 6 units within NCT; NCT 127, NCT DREAM, NCT WISH, WayV, NCT U, NCT DOJAEJUNG. Tap again to view profile → Close 127. The news came through a formal notice on the group’s Weverse. It also raises a question: what comes next for a member who spent a decade with the group?

Even while promoting with NCT, WINWIN steadily built a career in Chinese entertainment, appearing in a number of shows and films. Now he leads a brand-new C-drama, Sunshine Through the Rain, projected to have 24 episodes in total.

Set on a university campus, the series follows Chen Yangzhou (WINWIN), a top student dealing with troubles at home, and Zheng Yu, a hardworking biology student under pressure from her mother’s medical expenses. The two are academic rivals who also help each other heal from their family struggles.

His costar Zheng Yu is played by Yang Chaoyue, a veteran of many C-dramas and a former member of Rocket Girls 101, so the leads share an idol background.

The drama is directed by Mao Deshu, who was the mastermind behind the beloved When I Fly Towards You. That series was known for its nostalgic cinematography and genuine friendships, and for a production environment that helped make it a success. Fans will be hoping he brings the same warmth to this one.

Sunshine Through the Rain premieres November 6 at 1 PM KST on Netflix and MGTV.
