Open your eyes to CLOSE YOUR EYES’ fourth mini-album, 256th Note, which released Sept. 30. Five months after the April release of their digital single OVEREXPOSED, the seven-member boy group is back. The title, “256th Note”, refers to one of the shortest durations possible for a musical note and alludes to the fleeting emotions and moments in life, the same motifs that run through the album.

Infused with jazz and bossa nova sensibilities, it comes as a big shift in sound for the group compared to hits like “All My Poetry” and “Snowy Summer”, which they released in their first year as a group in 2025. However, their range doesn’t come as a complete surprise. Their third EP, blackout, released later that year, showed that CLOSE YOUR EYES could handle a darker, more mature sound. Now halfway into their second year, CLOSE YOUR EYES’ experimentation doesn’t seem to be stopping.

In an interview with Ones to Watch, the members highlighted their desire for fans to notice their growth through this album. With lyrics like “Mama, I raise the bar” in title track “Drop That!”, CLOSE YOUR EYES show a strong determination to succeed beyond their award-winning rookie era. They took home nine awards in their debut year and are now looking beyond South Korea. Leader Jeon Minwook also shared that with this comeback he “wanted to introduce [their] music to people who aren't that into K-pop.”

256th Note comes ahead of the ‘BEYOND YOUR EYES’ North American tour, which spans eight cities across the United States and Canada and kicks off in Atlanta, Georgia on Oct. 21. Full dates and ticket details can be found through J&B Entertainment’s official social media accounts.

A 256th note is almost over before it begins, but it’s clear CLOSE YOUR EYES are only getting started.
