member Jay addressed fans who expressed dissatisfaction or concern with member Heeseung's departure, which was announced last month. BELIFT LAB, the group's label under HYBE, announced in March that Heeseung would be exiting the group and ceasing group activities with ENHYPEN
in order to pursue a solo career within the company. The group's dedicated fanbase, known as 'Engene', took to social media for days, generating massive buzz surrounding the decision. Controversy quickly broke out, with fans divided on whether the split was mutual or a result of the company's alleged unwillingness for their artists to pursue solo activities. This controversy quickly evolved into large protests, some even taking place outside of HYBE headquarters in Seoul. Fans rented trucks, created signage, and trended the hashtag 'ENHYPEN
is Seven' on social media platforms, and some even called for a boycott of group activities unless all seven members were present.
Until today, the remaining six members of the group have not publicly addressed these efforts. During his birthday livestream that took place early in the morning, 24-year-old member Jay addressed the many comments he was receiving in the chat, asking fans not to bring up the situation with the other members out of concern for their emotions on the matter. "ENHYPEN
is ENHYPEN
," he said, in response to many of the comments stating either "ENHYPEN
is six" or "ENHYPEN
is seven." He went on to say, "I'm fine, but don't do that to other members, especially on their birthday... Today is a happy birthday for me but I'm nervous, what if other members would feel depressed in these kinds of situations?" The social media buzz follows the launch of Heeseung's new solo path as an artist, which began recently with the announcement of his new stage name 'EVAN' on April 8th. No official announcement has been made regarding when fans can expect new music. The remaining six members of ENHYPEN
-Jake, Jay, Jungwon, NI-Kl, and Sunghoon—are set to embark on their world tour 'BLOOD SAGA' this year, with dates extending into 2027.
