Devoted fans of K-pop legends BTS
will know that group leader RM is a long-time art enthusiast and an avid frequenter of museums around the world. Now, for the first time, fans and the general public will get to experience a deeper look into the 31-year-old rapper's personal collection of artwork. In a collaboration with the San Francisco Museum of Modern art—also known as SFMOMA—200 works curated from both RM's collection and the museum's will be on display from October 3rd of 2026 through February 7th of 2027.
The exhibition is titled RM x SFMOMA: Between You & Me and will feature pieces by Korean and international artists alike. According to the SMFOMA website, many of the works included in the exhibition will be displayed to the public for the very first time in the United States. In a statement provided by the museum, RM mentioned that he hopes for his collection to serve as a bridge between cultures and welcomes both experienced and new viewers of art to the event. "I don't want to prescribe how these works should be seen," he says, continuing, "whether out of curiosity or study, all perspectives are welcome. My only hope is that this exhibition can be a sturdy bridge for many."
For many years, RM has given fans glimpses of his personal art collection through photos of his home shared on social media and via live streams. His Instagram page, @rkive, is aptly named as an archive of the many museums that the Indigo and Right Place, Wrong Person creator visits around the globe. In fact, it is more common to see photos of art exhibits, paintings, and sculptures than photos of RM himself! His exhibition collaboration with SMOMA seems a natural step in his journey as a collector and will allow the public a more intimate look into the works that have perhaps acted as inspiration for some of the band leader's most iconic work in music.
The showing is expected to draw BTS
ARMY from all over the world, and tickets for the exhibition will be available to the public beginning on August 11th. SMOMA membership holders will be able to receive early access on August 4th. And for fans looking for even more access, the museum has introduced the Encore Pass, granting unlimited visitation for the duration of the exhibit’s run.
