The beauty of cracking open: Jennie strips away the armor in Fallen Angel

Following the overwhelming success of Ruby and established as one of the global pop landscape's most influential icons, Jennie returns with Fallen Angel, her most introspective, melancholic, and conceptually ambitious EP to date. Released under her independent label OA (ODD ATELIER), the three-track digital project featuring "FALLEN ANGEL", "HEAVEN", and "Less than a Lover" marks a definitive turning point: the transition from unreachable superstar to a vulnerable artist embracing human complexity. 

Stepping away from the high-octane production built for massive stage performances, Fallen Angel chooses a minimalist approach that places Jennie's raw vocal delivery front and center:

FALLEN ANGEL: As my personal favorite off the project, this title track stands out through its clean, lyrical acoustic guitar melody and intimate sanctuary feel. Jennie's sincere vocals deliver cozy comfort, leaving a lasting impression for anyone searching for a peaceful refuge.

HEAVEN: Heightens the emotional tension of the EP. Blending powerful vocals with a gritty yet dreamlike guitar sound, the track explores the paradox of an addictive, destructive relationship that still feels like paradise.

Less than a Lover: The successful July pre-release single that topped global charts acts as the rhythmic anchor of the project, balancing dark melancholy with polished pop sensibility.

Visual concept: A dark fairytale and the allegory of the fall

The music video for "FALLEN ANGEL", written and directed by Sunburnkids, unfolds as a symbol-heavy contemporary fable reminiscent of Tim Burton’s dark fantasy world and the psychological intensity of Black Swan.

Jennie reinterprets the fallen angel trope far beyond traditional religious iconography. Instead of framing the fall as a punishment, it becomes a necessary shedding of the burden of external perfection, where the opening line "Human greed has made them so heavy..." establishes the descent as her only path toward true freedom. Floating on dark waters surrounded by black swans, she subtly nods to Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, embracing her hidden desires, complex emotions, and darker facets over ideal purity.

The physical release: three exclusive bonus tracks

While the digital EP delivers a concise three-song narrative, the journey extends further for collectors. Ahead of the physical release on October 30—whose pre-orders sold out immediately—Jennie revealed a six-track expanded CD edition. Alongside the digital cuts, the physical version includes three exclusive tracks personally curated by Jennie for her fans: "sweettooth", "lockitdown", and "Face".

Fallen Angel isn't just a stylish comeback; it's a bold declaration of artistic autonomy. As Jennie gently closes the viewer's eyes in the final scene, she isn't stepping out of the spotlight—she’s inviting us into an era where vulnerability is, at long last, her greatest strength.
