On Friday (Jul. 31), the newly rebranded i-dle took over the Lolla stage for the first time. Accompanied by a live band, backup dancers, and staircase structure, the quintet gave it their all—even as it started to rain. 

Their 16-song, hour-long set on the T-Mobile main stage opened with their empowerment anthem “Superlady.” The ladies kept the energy going with similar title tracks like “Queencard” and “Wife,” while also leaning into more dramatic b-sides like “Villain Dies” before ending things with a heartfelt performance of their single “Mono.”

I-dle later posted to Instagram saying, “That was so much fun! Lollapalooza, thank you for all the love.”

BIGHIT’s newest, self-producing boy group CORTIS also made their major U.S. festival debut on Saturday (Aug. 1). Due to heavy rainfall and overnight flooding, their performance was pushed back and cut ten minutes short. That didn’t stop the “REDRED” singers from delivering, though.

The group drew over 50,000 festival-goers to their stage and performed 11 songs back-to-back, no break needed. Their set included hits like “Go!” and “FaSHioN” alongside newer tracks like “MOTION,” where they surprised attendees by bringing out featured collaborator, Juicy J.

CORTIS is currently in the midst of the North American leg of their “Put Your Phones Down” tour, and also played an intimate pre-show/after party event in Chicago on July 31, before their main Lolla performance.

Since their debut in 2020, aespa has gained international recognition for their innovative concept that got it done on Sunday, Aug. 2, their first outing at the Chicago festival, too, backed by a live band and full-blown choreography with backup dancers (plus a large, circular standee featuring their logo). 

More than a third of the group’s 14-song, hour-long set featured songs from their latest album Lemonade, but it also included classics like “Next Level” and “Black Mamba.” The quartet later brought out Ty Dolla $ign to perform their collaboration, “Switchblade.”

Formed by YG Entertainment, the g , but this time she tackled things alone, making history as the first female Korean artist to headline.

Her 18-song, hour-long set featured everything you'd expect from a marquee performer like outfit transformations, stage pyrotechnics, and four unreleased songs. These included “Sweet Tooth,” “Fallen Angel,” “Lock It Down,” and “Heaven” (the latter two first introduced at Governors Ball back in June). And, of course, she didn’t forget her hits like “Mantra” and “like JENNIE.”

What a weekend for K-pop, indeed!
