WAYF BOYS are a 5-member group operating under an independent, Seoul-based label called WAYF (“Where Art Yields Freedom” / “We Are Your Friends”). Composed of members Andrew, Junmyeong, Anderson, Samuel, and Ryan, they first introduced themselves on June 2 through the group’s official SNS accounts. However, some may recognize the members from stints on shows like BOYS II PLANET, NCT × NCT About group NCT NCT is a South Korean boy group formed by SM Entertainment with a unique multi-unit concept. As part of their announcement, the group posted teaser photos of themselves hanging up flyers that read “JOIN WAYF BOYS. Bring Your Talent. Bring Your Story. Bring NU-KPOP.”

Nu-Kpop is an identity-based evolution of the K-pop genre. By definition, it rejects the traditional idol system, prioritizing authenticity, artistic freedom, and self-expression over perfectly curated formulas. WAYF BOYS first introduced the term back in June, labeling themselves not as a 5th-generation K-pop group but the pioneers of the first generation of Nu-Kpop.

After announcing their single, the group also posted a statement addressing the sound they’d be adopting and why, saying: “We want to pay our respects to the artists, communities, and culture we grew up with. We carry that influence with gratitude, and we’re excited to express ourselves through genres like hip-hop and R&B. All love.”

The news of their first song release comes after the group’s first public performance at WATERBOMB Seoul, where attendees got a sneak peek at what’s soon to come. WAYF BOYS have also released behind-the-scenes footage of the accompanying music video, which is now available to watch on YouTube.
