This year, though, there’s something new that’s caught everyone’s attention. And it's a lot tinier than you might expect.
Meet “Lucky Turtles,” the resin micro charms idols can’t stop sticking to their phone cases. These 3D talismans, nicknamed Haengbugi (행부기), are said to bring good luck and come in a wide variety of colors. Each color represents something different, too, allowing buyers to choose the kind of good fortune they’d like to attract.
These charms originally gained traction amongst South Korea’s Gen Z population but has since spread among the masses thanks to some of K-pop’s biggest names joining in on the fun.

glued a few to her phone case, saying she had gotten them from a staff member. Similarly, SEVENTEEN

showed off his turtles on a Weverse livestream from July 20, where he also credited staff members for putting him on the trend.

In South Korean culture, turtles have always been an auspicious symbol traditionally associated with longevity because of their long lifespans. This new “Lucky Turtle” trend builds on that tradition while also adding a modernized spin that’s unique to the personality of a new generation.
