The second half of 2026 has been a treat for K-drama fans, to say the least. Some of the industry’s most celebrated actors are returning to the screen, countless shows are premiering, and some of the most anticipated webtoon adaptations are arriving as well.

Adding to the excitement, Song Hye Kyo, the queen of Hallyu, is teaming up with Gong Yoo for the first time in a K-drama in the new series Tantara. The 22-episode show is slated to premiere exclusively on Netflix on December 11. It is one of the most anticipated Netflix productions of 2026. Song Hye Kyo was last seen in The Glory and made a special appearance in Genie, Make a Wish, while Gong Yoo last starred in The Trunk.

The story is set in the 1960s against the backdrop of the Korean entertainment industry. It follows Min Ja (Song Hye Kyo) and her childhood friend Dong Gu (Gong Yoo) as they chase their dream of entering the entertainment industry. Rising from a childhood of poverty, the pair is doing everything they can to turn that dream into reality. Along the way, they are accompanied by Min Hui (Kim Seol Hyun) and Seok Gil Yeo (Cha Seung Won) on their journey.

Behind the scenes, the series boasts acclaimed writer Noh Hee Gyoung, known for Our Blues and It’s Okay, That’s Love, alongside director Lee Yoon Jung, whose credits include the hit shows Coffee Prince and Cheese in the Trap. With such a star-studded cast and crew, K-drama fans are eagerly awaiting the project.
